Who We Are?

We are an inclusive and ethical Mental Well-being Center, located in Pune,India.

We provide a range of holistic mental health care solutions for individuals, couples, families, corporates, and organisations globally online and offline.

We believe that stories of our lives are placed in broader structures of power and culture that we live in. As mental health professionals, we are vitally interested in listening with curiosity the stories of individuals and communities.

Our aim is to build a safe space for narrating and re-telling these stories of trauma, suffering, pain along with those of hopes, values, knowledge, and aspirations.

Our Story

SafeStories was first established in 2017, by Ms. Pooja Jain with an aim to make mental health a part of daily conversations. Pooja was then joined by some awesome mental health professionals who together believed that empowering individuals is not enough and that we need to empower our support systems, families, organisations, workplaces, and communities for empowered individuals. The main objective was to move away from a stigmatised, hospital setting to an inclusive, rights based and collaborative space which respects the stories , identities, and Keeps dignities of the individuals with mental health needs intact.

When to Seek Help?

Therapy is beyond just "talking about your problems" and there are misconceptions that it can be done by friends and family.

Therapy includes reflections, processing of difficult emotions and thoughts in presence of a professionally trained mental health professional. Therapy can also be a safe space for you discuss your present, past, future and everything in between. Psychotherapy can help in improving communication, self awareness, interpersonal relationships and develop healthy coping ways. Anyone can access and deserve therapy and it is not just for people with concerns.

Social Justice Lens

We believe that life stories don't exist in isolation and therefore we are mindful of how aspects such as sex, gender, caste, class, sexuality, disability, ethnicity etc shape people’s problems.

Intersectional

Intersectionality is the recognition that multiple marginalized identities add to each other or ‘intersect’. We aim to consistently unlearn and acknowledge the ways we unintentionally perpetuate systems of power that we have internalised.

Accessible

Our aim is to make mental health accessible to those who don't have the privilege to access it. We try to do that through services in regional languages, pro bono sessions and mentors from varied communities.

Culturally Sensitive

We believe that culture has a strong influence on both the practitioner and the client. We recognise it's influence in times of distress & work on being culturally sensitive to provide better understanding of client’s mental health concerns.
